FITNESS CARTEL EXPANDS ITS NORTH QUEENSLAND FOOTPRINT WITH NEW $8M CAIRNS CLUB TO OPEN EARLY 2027

Fitness Cartel Health Clubs (Fitness Cartel) has today announced its North Queensland expansion into Cairns, with a brand-new $8m super club set to open in early 2027. Located at Raintrees Shopping Centre on the Corner of Alfred and Koch Street, Manunda, the state-of-the-art 3,200sqm club is larger than any in the area and will offer a unique combination of gym and wellness facilities.

From high-performance training, a luxury recovery centre and Reformer Pilates to a Kids Cartel crèche, retail shop with supplements, merchandise, apparel and six-star member amenities usually only seen in high end hotels, Fitness Cartel is setting a new standard for Cairns.

Fitness Cartel CEO Nathan James said the $8million club is an exciting step in the brand’s ambitious expansion plans to open 60 clubs by 2030.

Cairns will be the second Fitness Cartel location for Franchise Co-Owner Michael James who owns the hugely successful Mackay club with Co-Owner Cliff Forster.

“Fitness Cartel is at the heart of Mackay’s fitness community, with the North Queensland Cowboys, the Australian cricket team, the Mackay Cutters and thousands of local residents regularly training with us,” said Michael James.

Designed to support both everyday training and more serious athletes, the club will feature over 500 pieces of world-class equipment, multiple training zones including the signature Booty Zone and a large Functional Fitness / HYROX Studio, specialist fitness such as Reformer Pilates and a premium wellness and recovery centre.

Fitness Cartel Cairns members will have access to 24/7 training at all Fitness Cartel locations, an extensive group fitness timetable including functional training, mat Pilates, yoga and Spin-Cycle, as well as a virtual offering for those who want to train in their own time.

A standout feature of the new facility is its Wellness & Recovery Centre, offering 6°c and 12°c cold plunge pools, 38°c hot spas pools, and two traditional hot rock saunas, steam room, infrared sauna and red light therapy all designed to support performance and overall wellbeing.

Fitness Cartel Cairns is expected to create more than 60 new jobs with the club now recruiting.
