Ghanem Group Hospitality Opens Hotel Terminus

South Brisbane's Most Ambitious Hospitality Destination

After years of anticipation, one of Brisbane’s most beloved venues is back.

Hotel Terminus, the heritage-listed South Brisbane landmark that generations of Queenslanders knew as The Fox Hotel, opens its doors on Saturday 20 June 2026, reborn as a four-level dining, entertainment and events destination under the stewardship of Ghanem Group Hospitality.

With a full transformation of the building behind the restored original façade, including an 18-metre atrium and a brand-new entrance opening onto Fish Lane, Hotel Terminus is back – bigger, bolder and more Brisbane than ever.

While the building has been transformed from the ground up, the name is a homecoming. A public vote gave the community a say in the venue’s new identity and the verdict was clear: restore the original name, Hotel Terminus. The Fox lives on as the rooftop bar’s name.

For Ghanem Group Hospitality’s Managing Director Nehme Ghanem, Hotel Terminus is as much about honouring what came before as it is about what comes next.

“Hotel Terminus is a revived venue that’s firmly rooted in where it came from,” Ghanem said.

This building has been a favourite gathering spot for Brisbane since it first opened its doors in 1927.

That weight of history is something we have kept front of mind throughout this project.

“The team has done justice to what the venue represents to this city and the entire group is incredibly proud to be the ones bringing Hotel Terminus back.”

The Terminus’s ground floor is an all-day gastropub, a venue built for everyone – lunch crowds, tradies knocking off, dinner with friends – alongside a public bar and dedicated gaming room and bottle shop.

The menu, overseen by Head Chef Lyndon Tyers, the creative force behind Donna Chang, alongside Group Executive Chef Jake Nicolson, is generous and well-considered without being overcomplicated.

Moreton Bay bug rolls with coriander labneh and curry sauce sit alongside a classic steak tartare, slow-cooked stout-braised sticky beef ribs and a tandoori chicken pie with creamed leek and green peppercorn jus. A premium steak section and a Sunday roast built around pepper-crusted prime rib, slow-glazed lamb leg and roast porchetta complete a menu that takes pub food seriously.

“The food at Terminus is about doing the classics properly, not reinventing them, just executing them to a level that surprises people,” Tyers said.

We source the best produce we can and make sure every single plate that leaves the kitchen is held to the standard Ghanem Group Hospitality is known and loved for.

Upstairs, Fox Rooftop brings the modern energy of day-to-night dining to South Brisbane’s skyline with vibrant cocktails, an international food menu and an easy-going social atmosphere.

Vixen Room is the late-night cocktail lounge below it. The cocktail-led late-night lounge is all late-night pulse, with live music and entertainment that sets the tone.

Ghanem Group Hospitality’s Bar and Beverage Manager, William Beverleysaid Fox and Vixen are two completely different yet complementary drinking experiences.

“Fox is vibrant and social, built for a crowd who want to socialise on the rooftop with something fresh in their glass,” Beverley said.

“Vixen is considered and plush; a room for people who want to settle in, who appreciate a properly made whiskey or crafted cocktail and aren’t in a rush to leave.

Together they create a journey from light to dark and I’m excited for Brisbane to discover both.
William Beverley | Ghanem Group Hospitality Bar and Beverage Manager

Located just steps from the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre and within easy reach of the CBD and South Bank precinct, the venue also caters to the corporate and wedding market.

Hotel Terminus’s level one function spaces – named after the original owner, architect and builder of the venue – are available for events, conferences, celebrations and private occasions.

  • The Addison Room accommodates 100 guests seated or 200 cocktail-style.
  • The Hayes Room for 50 seated or 80 cocktail-style.
  • The Carrick Room, an intimate private dining room for 14.

The fit out of the four-level dining, entertainment and events destination is the work of Space Cubed, a Queensland-based design studio and creative partner of Ghanem Group Hospitality since Byblós opened at Portside Wharf in 2006.

Each floor has been restored and re-imagined with its own distinct visual character, lighting and atmosphere, while a cohesive design thread runs through the building from the ground floor to the rooftop.

The brief for Hotel Terminus was to create three distinct venues and function spaces that feel complete on their own, while respecting the heritage Commercial Palazzo Architecture.
Arran Woollams | Space Cubed Director

“Every floor has its own story, but there is a thread that connects them. We wanted guests moving between levels to feel like they are discovering something new each time.”
