It’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon.

In what seemed like the blink of an eye, we bid farewell to Takura Matenga, our inaugural Rumbletown Pathways Scholarship recipient, in November.

Takura was part of the Rumbletown family for 16 weeks, working and learning across its five agencies – Rumble Strategic Creative (Advertising and Creative), Aruga (PR and Social Media), Romeo (Creative and Digital), Scout Frontier (Media Planning and Buying) and Edison (SME Brand Consultants) – during her paid placement.

Reflecting on her experience, the final year QUT Bachelor of Business student singled out as highlights the opportunity to work alongside the founders of each agency, meeting clients and building relationships with people on the wider teams.

Playing small parts in projects and seeing them come to fruition has been some of my favourite parts about the whole experience.

“I’ve learnt so much, not just about the industry but myself and the different pathways I want to go down.”

The $12,000 Rumbletown Pathways Scholarship provides one BIPoC (Black, Indigenous and People of Colour), CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) or mature-age QUT student annually with financial support and access, experience and mentorship across the disciplines of Advertising, Digital, Media and Communications.

Rumbletown – Queensland’s leading independent media agency group – launched the pioneering diversity and inclusion scholarship in partnership with the Queensland University of Technology Business School in 2021.

Applications for the next scholarship intake open in early 2022.
